MSHDA Board Approves $1.5 Million Investment for Zone 32 Phase II Workforce Housing in Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, MI – Bogan Developments has received approval from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Board for $1,500,000 in Housing Community Development Fund (HCDF) support for Zone 32 Phase II, advancing the next phase of affordable housing development in Kalamazoo’s Northside.

The funding will support the construction of 36 new multifamily rental housing units serving Missing Middle households earning up to 120% of Area Median Income (AMI), with a 10-year affordability period. Construction for Zone 32 Phase II is scheduled to begin in summer 2026.

Zone 32 Phase II builds on the success of the original Zone 32 mixed-use development, adding 36 affordable housing units to the reclaimed brownfield site adjacent to the existing Phase I development at 815 N. Pitcher St. The project will also introduce enhanced resident amenities, including a fitness room and community room, supporting quality of life and long-term community stability.
